Kaizer Chiefs defender, Daniel Cardoso, has spoken rather openly about Amakhosi’s Absa Premiership status and why the date with Cape Town City on Sunday is a serious one.
The Glamour Boys are on the verge of the making the Nedbank Cup semis but first need to do a job over the feisty Citizens.
“I think we all know that. The league is basically gone. I think we’ve drawn a bit too many games, and we’ve now got the Nedbank Cup to play for,” Cardoso said to Kick Off.
The Johannesburg-born defender highlighted Chiefs’ long-running trophy dry spell.
“It’s four years without a trophy and we need to stop that. It’s been a very tough four years, and we don’t only owe it to ourselves but also to our fans and to the club, and this is a good chance to start.
“We know we have an objective, and we have to go and finish the objective of winning the Nedbank Cup,” he added.
The game kicks off at 15:00.
