KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi shared his delight with the performance of Mike Mutyaba since his arrival at the club at the start of the 2018/19 season.

Mutyaba has been a key player for KCCA FC this season including their run to win this season’s league.

He is currently the top scorer for the club this campaign with thirteen goals across all completions, ten goals in the league and three in the Uganda Cup.

The former Vipers SC, TP Mazembe and Express FC player has enjoyed rather a rich form in the recent outings for KCCA FC scoring in previous four successive games (against Tooro United, SC Villa, Kirinya Jinja SS and Vipers SC).

Mutebi believes commitment and hard work have been the key factors in the surge of form for Mutyaba.

“We are impressed with his performance since joining the club at the start of the season. He is a committed player and works hard to make sure he adds value to the team.”

The manager adds that he brought Mutyaba to mentor the young players at the club which he thinks he has done well.

“There is no doubt about his talent. We brought him (Mutyaba) to mentor the young players like Okello but instead he is our top scorer. Players like Allan Kyambadde have one goal in the league.”

Mutyaba who had announced retirement from the game two years ago returned at the start of this season.

At KCCA FC, he has played a total of 22 games scoring 13 goals across all competitions.

Mutyaba's brief history

Mutyaba started his professional career with Vipers, then Bunamwaya in 2008 and was instrumental as the side lifted their first league title in 2010 and was also part of the side that lifted the title in 2014/15.

He also had stints with Sudanese giants El Merriekh between 2011 and 2013 before moving to former African champions, TP Mazembe.

In DR Congo, things didn’t go well and he was loaned back to Vipers in 2014.

He previously featured for Express where he was captain before officially retiring.
