Coutinho agent responds to exit rumours

15 May 2019, 18:00

Philippe Coutinho agent Andrea Bertolucci has claimed the Antoine Griezmann won’t be replacing the Brazilian at Barcelona.

Griezmann announced on Tuesday that he would leave Atletico Madrid and it led to speculations that the Frenchman will replace Coutinho at Nou Camp. The former Liverpool man is believed to have failed to live to the expectations with the Catalans and he could be released in the summer. However, speaking to AS, Coutinho’s agent quashed any doubts about the future of his client in the Catalan capital.

“It’s untrue that Griezmann is going to replace Philippe at Barcelona,” he said.

The Brazilian agent did not want to comment any more regarding Coutinho's future but insisted the talk of him being replaced by Griezmann was unfeasible.

"I don't know why they are saying that. I don’t know about that and that's why I don't want to talk anymore, but it's false,” he added.

Coutinho’s contract with the Spanish giants is set to expire in the summer of 2023.
