Matano targeting a top Five finish after a ‘gelling’ season

Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano is targeting a top-five finish with Tusker FC this with two games remaining until the end of the season.

Tusker has blown hot and cold in Matano’s tenure after the taking over from Ugandan Sam Ssimbwa and according to the former AFC Leopards and Sofapaka FC head coach, their spiral has majorly been due to the number of young and new players who needed time to gel.

“We have tried (on the season outcome). We have young and new players and we were trying to gel almost through the season. This is a transition period for the club so we are trying to make a team. I am sure we will be okay in the future,” Matano said after their Wednesday game against Zoo Kericho.

Dropped

On the game, Matano said it was two points dropped following the 2-2 draw and promised to do all he can to win their next two games.

“We dropped points today and is not satisfied with one point. The rain-affected because we are not used to it. Zoo always plays in the rain so they adapted well. The boys tried to cope with the demands of the game and can’t fault them.

“We have to play well and win those remaining matches. We want to finish in the top five and we will be going for it in the remaining games,” Matano added.

Tusker who have AFC Leopards and Posta Rangers in their next games are currently placed seventh with 50 points.
