Muluya blames fixture congestion, inexperience for Sharks uninspiring season

Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muliya has blamed tough fixture congestion and lack of inexperience as the main reasons why his team didn’t perform as expected in the 2018/19 Kenyan Premier League season.

Sharks are currently at position ten on the KPL log with 42 points with Muliya saying they will be going for three points against Vihiga United in their last league game to enable them to hit the 45 point mark.

“We didn’t score enough goals this season. We have not done well this season. It was a tight league and we had a lot of injuries. We hope we can do well next season. A time we had to play four games in seven days and it wasn’t an easy thing.

Young Players

“We had young players with a chunk being in their second season with us. We have to fasten them and we will hope to have one or two experienced players in the team,” Muluya remarked after their game against Mount Kenya.

On the game, Muluya who hailed Mount Kenya felt they started slowly and hailed his substitutes for changing the game into their favor.

“Mount Kenya has played well today. They even had a penalty earlier on and missed. We didn’t play well in the first half but the subs did well in the second half. They played differently from what we did in training this week. They are the implementers and I can only give instructions. Told them they didn’t play as a team,” Muluya added.

The last league game against Vihiga will be staged at the MISC Kasarani on Wednesday 29 May from 3pm EAT.
