Ahead of the UEFA Europa League final against Arsenal, Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta has revealed that injuries to Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek provide extra motivation to win the trophy.
Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek featured heavily for Chelsea in the Europa League playing nine matches and 11 matches respectively. The duo also netted four goals each during the run to the final, with both players having a great chance to start the match but injuries have since ruled them out. The two midfielders also suffered very similar injuries, rupturing their Achilles' tendon, which required surgery.
Speaking in an interview ahead of the final against Arsenal, Azpilicueta revealed that the duo's injuries provide extra motivation to win the final, "I think yes, it is an extra motivation for us. Both of them were very unfortunate with their injuries.
"They were both in their best moment of the season, playing regularly and were important for the team. So it was a huge downer for all of us, including them. All of us will take it as an extra motivation to win it for them because they have been very important to get us to Baku. They deserve for us to give everything for them. Hopefully, we can do it."
