Kenyan Premier League newbies Wazito are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season with sources indicating that they have signed Gor Mahia's Cercidy Okeyo, Mathare United midfielder Cliff Nyakeya and Sony Sugar forward Derrick Otanga.
Wazito bounced back to the league in the first time of asking after suffering relegation in the 2018 season. Wazito had a stellar 2019-2020 season in the National Super League winning the title after a fierce battle between Nairobi Stima and Kisumu All Stars that took the title race down to the wire. Wazito who are bankrolled by Dubai-based businessman Ricardo Badoer are looking to splash cash to strengthen their squad.
Wazito Sporting Director Solomon Alubala was coy when asked about the signings, "One thing is for sure that we will bring in new players, we just finished the season on Monday and broke camp yesterday so I have a meeting to discuss the season review with the coaching staff and possible targets.
"We are looking to strengthen all areas with mostly players who have had KPL experience. I cannot speak about the three players because they have contracts with their respective clubs which I respect."
Nyakeya had an impressive season with Mathare United emerging as the club's top scorer with 14 goals while Derrick Otanga also emerged as Sony Sugar's top scorer with 13 goals while Cercidy Okeyo was squad player at Gor Mahia.
