Burundi head coach Olivier Niyungeko has named a 25 man list that will take on South Sudan on July 27, 2019 in the preliminary stage of the 2020 CHAN Qualifiers.
This comes days after the team was eliminated from the African Cup of Nations with a chunk of players that participated in the competition not eligible for the Qualifiers.
The likes of Sofapaka duo of Moussa Omar and goalkeeper Justin Ndikumana who were all in the competition will not be part of the team for the CHAN duties so is Gor Mahia’s Francis Mustafa; Mustafa and Omar making an appearance in the showpiece with Ndikumana being unused as Burundi left in the group stage.
Burundi finished last in Group B with zero points after failing against Madagascar, Nigeria, and Guinea.
The team was slated to take Kenya in the round but a revised fixture by CAF following the entry of Djibouti and hosts Ethiopia handed them South Sudan.
