Egypt international Ahmed Hegazi is reportedly heading to Saudi Arabia according to various reports amidst Aston Villa transfer links.
According to Express and The Star reports in the week, Hegazi is on a list of potential centre-back targets for Villa this summer.
Whilst the report stated that the Egyptian was not at the top if Dean Smith’s list, it appears the 28-year-old is a potential back-up option.
Hegazi had been a key player for Aston Villa's rivals West Brom in the 2018/19 season and it now appears as though he could be an alternative to Bristol City defender Adam Webster.
But, if reports in Saudi Arabia are anything to go by, then Aston Villa will not be getting Hegazi. Okaz, one of the biggest publications in the Kingdom, reports that Jeddah-based Al-Ahly are closing in on a deal for Hegazi.
The reports further claim the club will announce the ‘details of the transfer’ ‘in the coming days’ which is yet to be seen.
