Ghana international Jeffrey Schlupp officially made his return to action for Crystal Palace after being on the sidelines for approximately three months due to an ankle injury.
Schlupp was set to finish the Premier League season on a high which would guarantee a place in the Black Stars squad for the Africa Cup of Nations but he found himself being ruled out for the rest of the 2018/19 campaign.
However, the midfielder was reportedly in high spirits when he featured for Crystal Palace in the preseason friendly against Swiss Super League side BSC Young Boys.
“I tore some ligaments in my ankle against Man City towards the end of the season,” Schlupp explained to Palace TV.
“I had a lot of work in the summer and managed to get it right.
"I felt really good getting through that 90 minutes and everything else is obviously a bonus.
"We managed to get a good week this week in Switzerland and I’m looking forward to working hard and getting some more minutes.”
Palace are set to face English lower-tier club Barney in their next preseason preparations on Tuesday, July 16.
Schlupp will be looking regain his fitness in its entirety in order to feature in the English Premier League as the new seasons kicks off in August and he will hope to be a part of the 2021 Afcon qualifiers and 2022 Fifa World Cup preparations respectively.
He made 30 league appearances for Palace in the 2018/19, starting in 18 games and managing to score four goals.
