Ampadu set for loan move, confirms manager Lampard

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed youngster Ethan Ampadu is likely to be loaned out this season.

The Wales international did not link up with teammates for the pre-season tour of Japan in anticipation of a move. Lampard admitted he was keen to sign the 18-year-old when he was managing Derby last season with the defender now attracting interests from Aston Villa.

Ampadu has made 12 appearances for the Blues first team since making his debut in December 2017. He featured five times under former boss Maurizio Sarri last season.

He signed a new five-year contract with the Stamford Bridge club in September 2018.
