New Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has sent a warning to Chelsea stars, as he prepares his charges for the start of the 2019/20 season.
The former club legend took over reins at his former side this month and has moved to warn the team that no one will be treated in a special way, further admitting that he loves to work with young talents.
“Everybody knows I have a keen eye for the younger players that the academy has produced and we now have a batch of them who are fighting to get in the first team,” he said.
“But to be absolutely clear, they now have to make the difference. It’s a pathway that’s given to them and now they have to be the ones who play well enough to get into the team,"
“I don’t care about age, I just care about performance and how people train. It’s up to those young players to show what they can do,"
Lampard is tasked to guide the team to success in the coming campaign and will have to do so without new players after the transfer ban that was imposed on the club.
He will be forced to rely heavily on the young talents at his disposal, as well as the experienced crop of players he inherited from Maurizio Sarri.
