Christian Eriksen on Friday trained alone ahead of Tottenham’s pre-season match against Italian giants Juventus in Singapore.
Eriksen whose contract with Spurs is set to expire next summer and could leave for free has been linked with a move away from London with Real Madrid and Barcelona termed possible destinations. The 27-year-old last month admitted he was ready to take a new challenge. Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino revealed the playmaker trained alone due to a ‘minor surgery’ he underwent after his side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League final.
“It’s difficult for me to comment for the player,” said Poch when asked about Eriksen’s desire to leave the club.
“Because he got a small, little minor surgery after the final ... that is why today rather train alone. We give the option to stay in London but the medical staff they decide that he can be available to play, maybe, and that is why he’s here.”
The north London club will be up against Juventus in the International Champions Cup at the National Stadium in Singapore before facing Premier League side Manchester United on July 25th.
