Following Jurgen Klopp's jibes at Manchester City about their spending, the Blues but Chief Operating Officer Omar Berrada admits they have been puzzled by the Liverpool manager's comments.
Liverpool have failed to bring in any marquee signing in this transfer window with Klopp noting that only a handful of clubs can spend money regularly, "But we are not in this fantasia land where you just get whatever you want. You cannot do it constantly. It looks like there are four clubs in the world who can do it constantly. Madrid, Barcelona, City and PSG."
Berrada, however, admits that he is puzzled by Klopp's comments, "We were a little bit surprised. Liverpool are a great sporting rival. I don’t know why they would make these comments. I don’t know why they would look at other clubs. It’s not frustration or anger, we just find it curious that they’d be highlighting our spending. We’re fine with their spending."
Liverpool broke the world record for a transfer spend in a calendar year in 2018 when they stumped up an astonishing £248million.
