Ahead of their English Premier League opener against Norwich City, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Sadio Mane could be in line to start the match.
The Senegal international only returned to training this week after a lengthy campaign at the African Cup of Nations that ended in defeat to Algeria in the final. The extended continental campaign now means that Mane has effectively been playing competitive football for close to 12 months.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of the Norwich clash, Klopp hinted at Mane starting the game, "He only had two weeks off so he didn’t lose a lot which is the good news and he looks fit. Monday, he came in at around 4pm after we had all left and he did his individual session.
"Yesterday (Wednesday), he was training with the rest of the team. He looks absolutely OK, so yes, he is an option to start, but we will see."
Liverpool welcome Norwich City on Friday 9th August in a 10 PM (EAT) kick-off.
