Matchday 3 of the Premier League in 2019/2020 kicks off with a Friday night clash between Aston Villa.
Here's a full schedule and set of previews and betting tips.
Aston Villa vs Everton
Aston Villa has endured a tough start to the Premier League upon their return. Back to back defeats against Spurs and Bournemouth respectively means they need to start prioritizing defence, but attacking is their strongest suit. Skipper Jack Grealish became the first player in EPL history to lose 20 straight games and he will want to put that right soon. It won't be easy against an Everton defence that has yet to concede a goal this season. Villa might finally breach the Toffees backline here after scoring in both of their opening two clashes.
Norwich vs Chelsea
Norwich striker Teemu Pukki is one of the hottest properties in England right now and leads the way in the EPL scoring charts with four goals after a stunning hat trick against Newcastle. Chelsea has yet to win this season after getting pegged back by Leicester last time out to draw 1-1. Norwich should get on the score sheet here in a high-scoring clash between two sides struggling defensively.
Brighton vs Southampton
Brighton's bright start to the season sees them on four points from their opening two clashes, a huge upturn in form from their run-in to the 2018/2019 season. They scored as many goals against Watford on the opening day as they had scored in eight previous fixtures combined. Southampton is second from bottom after two losses and they'll struggle to get anything out of this South Coast derby clash.
Man United vs Crystal Palace
United's 1-1 draw with Wolves on Monday night was an improvement on their last two visits to Molineux, and it keeps the feel-good factor at Old Trafford after their opening day thumping of Chelsea. Visitors Palace has yet to score a goal this season, which will be a cause of concern for the manager, who is struggling to get the most out of unsettled Wilf Zaha. United should grind out a win here.
Sheffield United vs Leicester City
Leicester has started their campaign with two draws but both were against good sides and they'll feel unfortunate they didn't collect all three points at Chelsea in a second half they dominated. Sheffield United's return to the Premier League has started strongly and they can get on the score sheet here, but we expect Leicester to get their first win of the campaign.
Watford vs West Ham
Watford has had a poor start to 2019/2020, losing both of their games and failing to score any goals in the process. West Ham managed a 1-1 draw with Brighton last time out, but they have been miserable on the road and especially in away matches against Watford, with no wins in their last five head to heads.
Liverpool vs Arsenal
The only two sides with a 100% record in the Premier League this season so far come toe to toe here where something has to give. Liverpool vs Arsenal is, more often than not, a classic Premier League encounter and we can see goals at both ends here, considering that Liverpool has yet to keep a clean sheet in 2019/2020. Liverpool has had a strong upper hand in clashes between these giants at Anfield though in recent years and it's them who should prevail here.
Bournemouth vs Man City
Both of Bournemouth’s matches this season have featured goals from both sides. With both of Man City’s matches featuring over 4.5 goals, we could be in for more of the same at Vitality Park this weekend. City’s last visit here ended in a 1-0 win on their way to capturing the title in the run-in, but this should be a more open affair.
Spurs vs Newcastle
Newcastle has started their season poorly with consecutive defeats against Arsenal and Norwich respectively. Tottenham will feel as though they got out of jail against Manchester City after scraping a 2-2 draw despite being dominated for long periods. Newcastle’s last visit to Tottenham ended in a hammering and they could be in for similar here.
Wolves vs Burnley
Wolves have drawn two straight matches in the Premier League so far but they were good value for their point against Manchester United and kept a clean sheet away to Leicester. Burnley lost 2-1 at Arsenal after a spirited performance and they will be no walkovers here. We expect Wolves to get their first win of the season though.
