Highlanders FC footballer Denzel Khumalo was at the wrong place at the wrong time before getting held at the Bulawayo Central Police Station last weekend.
According to the reports, Khumalo was allegedly in a brawl that happened in one of the city's clubs.
The Chronicle have been led to believe that the 21-year-old player together with his teammate Brian Banda, and a friend drunkenly vandalized a BMW car that belongs to a Highlanders supporter.
Banda confirmed to the publication that the scuffle did in fact occur, saying he ‘restrained’ Khumalo.
“I wasn’t there when the said vehicle was attacked. Of course, there was an altercation between Denzel and some guy who owes him money. I restrained Denzel and we left the club. I was surprised to hear that there was a fight and a car was damaged," Banda told The Chronicle.
Meanwhile, Khumalo has denied the charges laid against on Sunday.
