The new-look Super Eagles showed glimpses of brilliance against Ukraine this week. It’s therefore exciting to know Nigeria have some major qualification games coming in 2019. Futaa looks ahead...

The not-so-popular Gernot Rohr is leading Nigeria through key AFCON 2021 qualifiers. All while rebuilding a new side.

The West Africans had a successful AFCON 2019. The Super Eagles finished as the third-best nation in Egypt after beating Tunisia 1-0 in the bronze match. Thanks to an early Odion Ighalo finish. Sadly the target man has since retired from international football.

So what’s ahead this year?

Below is Futaa’s round-up for fixtures:

AFCON 2021 Qualifiers

  • Nigeria 🇳🇬 vs Benin 🇧🇯 

The Super Eagles will kick off the road to Cameroon against West Africa’s tricky side Benin. The game will be at home in Nigeria on Monday 11 November.

The two sides have never met in this competition, though the last meeting was in the CHAN2020 qualifiers in July this year. Nigeria won the encounter 2-0.

  • Lesotho 🇱🇸 vs Nigeria 🇳🇬 

The second AFCON 2021 qualifier will be away to Southern African minnow Lesotho. The home side will be in search of making history. Lesotho have never qualified for the AFCON and what will be expected to deliver a fierce fight to in in order to edge closer to their dream. The game is set for Tuesday 19 November.
