John Makwatta responds to Gor Mahia cheque saga

Following rumors that Gor Mahia had handed John Makwatta a dishonored cheque, the AFC Leopards forward has responded to the whole transfer saga.

Makwatta was the center of a transfer saga that involved Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards with a sign on fee cheque doing rounds on social media after K'Ogalo tried to rope in the free agent.

The 2016 KPL top scorer was close to joining Gor Mahia who even presented him with a cheque as sign-on fee money but later opted to join Leopards. The former Ulinzi Stars forward was out of contract after his deal with Kuwaitian club Al-Nasr SC expired.

Speaking to futaa, Makwatta cleared the air on the whole drama involving Ingwe and K'Ogalo, "That's a situation that usually happens during the transfer season but there was nothing much into that, I just made my decision and I decided to join AFC in the last minute because I was already in contact with them for a long time.

When pressed to speak about the cheque that surfaced online, Makwatta had this to say, "That is a story that was on social media so you never know who did that, I don't know the details of that story and I cannot speak about it now because it is the past."
