English Premier League giants Manchester United will launch a £60m bid for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison next summer.
The Times reports that United had made enquiries about the midfielder in the just concluded window but Leicester told them that they were not selling with the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer acquiring the services of Madison teammate Harry Maguire.
Leicester was not willing to lose two of their star players to the same team in the same summer but United is believed to be giving everything to have the former Norwich player in their ranks.
Dearth in midfield
United will return once again for Maddison next year as they seek to address their dearth of midfield options with the future of Paul Pogba still uncertain and the likes of Jesse Lingard firing blanks for the club.
Leicester, however, is in no mood to sell Maddison and, with three and a half years left on his existing contract, do not need to sell him either. The midfielder, who was bright in an otherwise tepid Leicester display at Old Trafford on Saturday, is said to be valued at a minimum of £60m.
