Majeed Ashimeru: Andres Iniesta has always been my football idol

Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has admitted that former Spanish international Andres Iniesta has been football idol for the longest time. 

Ashimeru further revealed that he grew up being a huge fan of Barcelona and that he envisioned his style of play as that of Iniesta.

“My favorite idol is Iniesta, he is someone I always watch before a game. I think I’m trying to see improvement. I try to learn a lot from him. I’m confident I will get there” he told Football Made in Ghana.

The Ghana U23 international has plied his trade for three different clubs on loan deals before joining Salzburg.

After a year at Austria Lustenau, he was sent out an another expedition at Wolfsberger before being sent to his highest club destination St Gallen where he scored four goals from 34 games.

Ashimeru was an unused substitute in Salzburg's UEFA Champions League 6-2 victory over KRC Genk on Tuesday, September 17.
