Wazito's rude welcome to the Kenyan Premier League was prolonged after going down 1-0 to AFC Leopards who picked up their first win of the season courtesy of John Makwatta's penalty in a match staged at the Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday 21st September.
Leopard's best chance of the opening stanza came in the 32nd minute when John Makwatta breached the Wazito defense but shot straight at the keeper when he could have squared the ball to Hansel Ochieng for a simple tap in.
Wazito squandered a host of chances with the best coming in the 33rd minute when former Sofapaka midfielder Michael Odour shot from point-blank range after being supplied by Victor Ndinya but his effort was saved by Benjamin Ochan.
The National Super League winners came into the second half guns blazing and pegged back Leopards in the early stages of the half. Leopards, however, broke the deadlock in the 76th minute when John Makwatta was brought down inside the penalty area by Bernard Ochieng'.
Makwatta stepped up to take the penalty and held his nerve to calmly slot the ball into the bottom left corner sending Kevin Omondi the wrong direction to open his goal account this season which also doubled up as Ingwe's first goal of the season following a loss against Homeboyz and a barren draw against Sharks.
The final 10 minutes was a cagey affair with Leopards resoting to time-wasting tactics as Wazito gave away needless fouls. Wazito seek to redeem themselves when they next face Zoo while Leopards next face Chemelil Sugar with both games scheduled for Sunday 29th
