Amunike agrees with Amapakabo: Players from Africa lack tactical skills

Emmanuel Amunike believes Imama Amakabo’s views on weak tactical abilities in Nigeria are true.

“It is a difficult thing for Nigerian players; based in the country, to interpret tactics and formation, with due respect even some of the coaches in the league don’t understand tactics and formation, so how do you give what you don’t have,’ Akapabako had said.

Amunike, fresh from coaching Tanzania to AFCON 2019, accepts that Africans have the natural ability, but are nowhere near the right levels tactically.

The former Nigeria Super Eagles international further identified the early ages as the time the tactical education should begin.

”Our players are good with raw talent but lack the tactical awareness, there is a need to be taught all the basics of football right from the age-grades,” Amunike said via Brila.
