KPL Review: AFC Leopards move to second as Wazito get the elusive win

The Kenyan Premier League week four came and went with AFC Leopards once again reminding other teams that they are not in the league to add numbers.

Leopards who started the season with a loss has improved since with one and two wins to their name with their latest victim being a hapless Chemelil Sugar FC who are the only team yet to record any point this season.

John Makwatta put his goal tally this season to three goals after scoring a brace in the tie with the other goals coming from defender Soter Kayumba and midfielder Tresor Ndikumana; the win raising their point tally to seven, just a point below leaders Western Stima.

Away from the Leopards game, the two games that were long-awaited in the weekend was that of Tusker FC v Sofapaka FC (two teams considered as close challengers to Gor Mahia) and Kariobangi Sharks v Mathare United (this being a derby of a sort)

In the first game, Tusker FC was to emerge 3-1 winners over Sofapaka; the loss being the latter’s second in the season as they struggle to replace some of their stars in the last window.

Tusker has now won two games on the trot and it will be a result that coach Robert Matano needed considering the pressure that had started to pile on his position at the club.

The Slum Derby between Mathare United and Sharks ended in a scoreless draw; the draw is the third for both teams, the most recorded by any team this season.

At the Kericho Green Stadium, moneybags Wazito FC finally got off the mark with a 2-0 win over hosts Zoo Kericho.

The win moved the league newbies to tenth position this after recording two draws and one loss in their first three games.
