Against all odds, Bandari FC has started the season brilliantly on the continental scene with the team just a game away to the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Bandari overcame US Ben Guardane in the first round on aggregate score and according to Team Manager Wilson Oburu, the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA)and the manager been supportive to the team in everything they do.
“The biggest support has been from KPA and the manager. He has been at the forefront to ensure that our requests are listened to and facilitation has been on time. They have supported us in everything we have done thus far this season and this is one major reason why we have started well,” Oburu said.
Competition in the Team
Apart from the management, Oburu admits that competition in the team is another reason why they are doing well and since many didn’t give them a chance in the continental scene, they’ve made it upon themselves to prove their doubters.
“We made some good signings and that has upped the competition in the team. If you watch our training there is an upped tempo and everyone is on his toes. We had doubters too when we made it to this competition (CAF Confederations Cup) and it is another reason that has spurred us,” Oburu added.
Next for Bandari is a league tie against Posta Rangers at the Mbaraki Sports Club.
