Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain maintained their 100% start to the UEFA Champions League with narrow 1-0 and 2-0 wins over Dinamo Zagreb and Galatasaray respectively.
Galatasaray vs PSG
Bouyed by their 3-0 win over Real Madrid last time out in the competition, PSG started brightly but had to wait to till the 52nd minute to break the deadlock when Pablo Sarabia unselfishly threaded in a through ball to Mauro Icardi to net his first goal for the Parisians since his move from Inter Milan.
PSG held on for the 1-0 win to remain top of Group A with six points from two games and will next face Angers on Saturday 5th October at the Parc des Princes while Galatasaray face Gençlerbirliği on the same day.
City vs Zagreb
It was one-way traffic at the Etihad Stadium as City pressed for an opener in the first half to no avail but Zagreb carved out chances of their own as the caught Guardiola's men on the counter occasionally.
City's efforts finally paid off six minutes after the hour mark when Riyad Mahrez fired the ball across the face of goal as Sterling fired the ball onto the roof of the net, 10 minutes after coming on as a sub for Bernardo Silva.
The goal meant that Sterling has now been directly involved in 18 goals in his last 16 home appearances in the Champions League for Manchester City (11 goals, seven assists), scoring or assisting at least once in 12 of his last 13.
City assured all three points in the 95th minute when another substitute Phil Foden who had come on four minutes picked up a pass from Raheem Sterling who just inside the Dinamo Zagreb penalty area before rifling a low drive into the bottom left-hand corner.
Guardiola's men next face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday 6th October while Zagreb host Slaven Koprivnica in the Croatian league on Saturday 5th October.
