The Nigerian football fraternity are mourning the death a Police Machine duo in Uyo.

Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration resulted in two deaths when two women footballers were hit by a car.

According to Goal, Saturday Glory and Aniebet Ekong met their tragic deaths in New Stadium Road as they made their way from yesterday’s training session.

“While Saturday and Ekong died on the spot, another player involved, Monica Anthony, is in a critical condition and still receiving treatment at the hospital in the Akwa Ibom state capital,” wrote Goal.

Oladipupo Seriki's women’s team were on a mission to win the Nigeria Women's Premier League (NWPL) to advance to the Women Pro-League promotion playoffs.
