Round Five of the Kenyan Premier League takes center stage this weekend as Gor Mahia seek to maintain their 100% start to the season against Zoo while Mathare United go in search of their first win over Wazito.
Mathare vs Wazito
With Wazito making their KPL debut back in the 2017 season, the two teams have only met twice with Wazito having a better head to head record, going unbeaten after winning one and drawing the other. Both sides have only won one game this season albeit Mathare are unbeaten.
Johnstone Omurwa will face his former side after joining Mathare back in 2017 before completing the circle to return home at the start of this season. Wazito will be looking to build on their win over Zoo FC last time out while Salim Ali will be hoping his forwards find their scoring boots after scoring just three goals this season.
Sony vs AFC Leopards
After a lethargic start to the season, Leopards have found their feet in the league and have now picked up back to back wins that have propelled them to fourth on the table and two points off table-toppers Gor Mahia.
It has been six years since Ingwe last genuinely challenged for the title but if their fans proverbial words "hii season ni yetu' is to become a reality then wins against teams like Sony Sugar should be routine.
Aziz Okaka will be facing his former side after joining Sony in the previous transfer window and will be hoping to end their four-game winless run against Leopards that dates back since 2017.
Sofapaka vs Bandari
After selling most of their key men in the name of Stephen Waruru, Mike Oduor, Pistone Mutamba, Umaru Kasumba, Cliff Kasuti, Omar Moussa and Justine Ndikumana, Sofapaka have struggled in the league winning only one game this season.
Bandari have struggled after their continental ties shipping in two goals against Zoo though they went on to win the game and recently drew against Posta Rangers at home. Sofapaka, however, have not had good outings against Bandari winning only one of their previous eight encounters.
Gor Mahia vs Zoo
Though having a game in hand, Gor Mahia currently lead the charts with a 100% record and will be looking to extend that record against Zoo. The Kericho based side have never beaten Gor Mahia in the KPL with the best result being a 1-1 draw, back in 2017.
Nicholas Kipkirui will be facing his former side and will be hoping to get on the scoresheet after scoring last time out in the 4-0 rout. Zoo are on a terrible run of form after losing three consecutive games with the only consolation being scoring in every game of the season bar the Wazito loss.
