Real Madrid have reportedly moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Ajax's highly-rated midfielder Donny van de Beek.
The Manchester side were interested in signing the 22-year-old in the summer but backed off after the Dutch side quoted £35million asking price.
Madrid are now said to be keen on signing him in the summer, and will not be put off by Ajax's £100million price tag.
The Dutch international was seen as a perfect replacement for Paul Pogba, who was rumored to be leaving in the summer.
But after the Frenchman decided to stay, Manchester dropped their interest in the youngster, who came through the ranks at the famed Ajax academy.
There still lingers uncertainty over Pogba's longterm future at the club, with Real Madrid and Juventus still keeping tabs on him.
Van de Beek made his Ajax bow in 2015, and had a wonderful campaign last season scoring 12 goals including one against Tottenham in the Champions League semifinals, and guided the side to a Dutch double.
He has started the season in great shape and has three goals to his name in the current campaign.
