George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo move from Gor Mahia to Tusker FC in the last transfer window had generated a mixed reaction from his fans.
The player had been one of the longest-serving players at Gor with other intimating that he could never feature for any other club in the Kenyan scene but that changed as he signed for the Robert Matano coached side.
Considered one of the best in his position on a good day, he was finally to open his Tusker account over the weekend against Homeboyz; his goal (the third of the day) putting the game beyond the hosts reach.
According to the player, scoring a goal has always been a good feeling but instead of milking the situation, he played cool claiming that his season target was to see his club topping the Kenyan Premier League standings at the end of the season.
“It’s a good feeling for me and the fans. It’s my first goal for the club and as always everyone would be happy if they are to put their names on the scoresheet.
“I think the goal could have come much early in the season but in the game of football, you miss some chances and bury some. Scoring isn’t my target though as my aim is to help Tusker be at the top of the standings come the end of the season. Ours now is to ensure we do well in the coming games,” Odhiambo said.
Odhiambo has a chance of increasing his tally in their next game at Sony and will hope that they can topple the two-point gap between them and his former employers.
