Chikatara, Ifeanyi return to NPFL after spells abroad

After spells in Egypt and Algeria, striker Chisom Chikatara and midfielder Ifeanyi Ifeanyi have returned to Nigeria with Akwa United ahead of the new season of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Chikatara played for four seasons (2012-2016) in the NPFL with Abia Warriors, he then made a move to Moroccan side, Wydad Athletic Casablanca between 2016-2018 before switching to El Gouna of Egypt in 2018, spending the 2019 season on loan at Tala’ea El Gaish.

Similarly, Ifeanyi started with MFM of Lagos in 2016 before switching his career service to Akwa United in 2017.

After two remarkable seasons that saw them win the 2017 Federation Cup and a stint in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2018, Ifeanyi moved to Algerian giants, Entente Sportive Setifienne, in early 2019.

However, both players are now back and will be featuring in the NPFL when it kicks off on October 20.

Both players were part of Nigeria’s team that featured in the 2016 Championship for African Nations, CHAN, held in Kigali, Rwanda.
