Asante Kotoko part ways with assistant coach

Asante Kotoko has parted ways with assistant coach Raphael Akakpo Patron.

Patron was shown the door on Wednesday, with Karela United head coach Johnson Smith reportedly set to replace him.

The former player, who played for Kotoko from 1991 to 1995, has been part of the side since joining in 2017, working under various coaches including Paa Kwesi Fabin, CK Akonnor and recently Kjetil Zachariassen.

He becomes the latest official to leave the club, following the departure of CK Akonnor prior to the start of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.

The side was however kicked out of the competition and relegated to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Patron's contract with the Porcupines was expected to expire in December this year.

Kotoko will on Wednesday evening know their opponents in the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers, with the draw set to take place at 17:00 GMT (EAT).

The team is placed alongside Gor Mahia, Enyimba, Horoya AC, KCCA, UD DO Songo, Young Africans, Zamalek/Generation Foot
