Bayern Munich legend Giovane Élber has backed striker Robert Lewandowski to break Bundesliga scoring record.
Former Bayern Munich striker Gerd Muller holds the record of scoring 40 goals in a Bundesliga season. Muller netted 40 goals in 34 league appearances way back in 1971/72 campaign, a record no player has broken since then. Elber is backing Lewandowski to break the record having already scored 12 goals for Munich after just eight games into the current campaign.
"I don’t know how you can do it. Without him it would be so difficult for Bayern," he told Bild.
"I’ve always thought that nobody can break that record. But now I believe. Robert could do it!", he added.
The Brazilian scored 139 goals during his six-year stay with Munich. Lewandoski needs to score 28 or more goals to break the record set by Muller.
