Sensational Zanaco thrashed Equatorial Guinea side Cano Sports Academy 5-1 at a poorly attended match at the National Heroes Stadium to progress to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage via an 8-2 aggregate scoreline
The Bankers came into the match with a 3-1 advantage from the first leg and could even have afforded to lose on the day and still qualify.
Zanaco, however, started the match like a house on just needed seconds to take the lead, Roger Kola heading home a Charles Zulu cross to put the Bankers in the lead. Kola doubled the lead eleven minutes after slotting home a perfectly timed Tafadzwa Rusike pass from close range.
In the second stanza, it was more of the same as Zanaco continued from where they left off. Ziyo Tembo got in on the action four minutes into the second half to make 3-0 before Substitute Enerst Mbewe could make it 4-0 after connecting well with a beautiful pass from Souleymanou Moussa.
Salif Diara pulled one back for Cano Sports after a mistake from Ziyo Tembo but the captain redeemed himself minutes later as he found the back of the net again to grab his second of the match, Zanaco's fifth, 5-1 the match ended.
The Bankers progress to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage with an emphatic 8-2 aggregate scoreline while Cano Sports bow out. Zanaco will await the group stage draw to know their opponents.
