Sensational Zanaco boss Numba Mumamba says his team will get down to work immediately to start preparing for the group stage as they expect things getter tougher going forward.
The Bankers thrashed Equatorial Guinea Champions Cano Sports Academy 5-1 on Sunday at the National Heroes Stadium to seal a place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage with an 8-2 aggregate scoreline.
"This is the time to get down to work and prepare our team for the challenge ahead of us because as we progress the competition gets stiffer. So all we need is to start planning and make sure our team is ready to compete," he said.
Numba also relived how tough it was for his side to beat Cano Sports away in Malabo due to poor pitch conditions and how good Cano played on the day. He went on to reveal that studying and analyzing Cano Sports helped them record the huge 5-1 win at home.
"It was not an easy game in Malabo due to the condition of the pitch because it's raining that side. We struggled a bit especially in the first half, they were on top of things and looked more comfortable on the ball. But after analyzing them we thought of putting pressure on them and denying them space because that's their strength and that's exactly what we did at Heroes Stadium because once you give them space it's a team that can torment you," he said.
His counterpart Casto Nopo was full of praise for Zanaco after the match and believes they can go far.
"Zanaco play very good football, they play direct football and I like how they play. We have just been in existence for five years but Zanaco has a lot of experience in this competition and if they keep playing this way they will go far," he said.
The Bankers are the only Zambian side remaining in the CAF Confederation Cup after Green Eagles crashed out following a 2-1 loss away in Morocco.
