Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has been handed a new coach following the appointment of former Egypt handler Javier Aguirre as Leganes new manager.
Leganes sacked Mauricio Pellegrino in October due to poor results.
Aguirre, who will be replacing Pellegrino, served as Egypt head coach for about a year, taking charge of the Pharaohs in 12 games across all competitions.
During his time in Egypt, the Pharaohs won nine games, drew one, while losing only twice, including a humiliating defeat in the 2019 AFCON round of 16 against South Africa.
On Monday, the Mexican signed a contract until the end of the season with an option for a further year, should he help Leganes stay in the top flight.
This marks Aguirre’s fifth stint in Spain, having managed the likes of Atlético Madrid, CA Osasuna, Real Zaragoza, and Espanyol.
Aguirre will make his debut for Leganes next Friday, when they travel to face Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena, before his side host Barcelona at home after the international break.
