Cape Town City have announced a new Dutch coach named Jan Olde Riekerink.
The Cape club made the announcement via social media this afternoon and just under 48 hours since Benni McCarthy's departure.
The 56-year-old coach's first public words as a City coach revealed some exprience with Mzansi players. Riekerink confirmed having worked with former Bafana Bafana and Ajax Amsterdam stars Steven Pienaar and Benni McCarthy.
In addition to his experience with SA players, the Dutchman has an extentsive youth background - including spells in the Dutch senior division, Portueguese League and Turkish Super Lig. Local media publicatons also reported Riekerink arrives to the Cape Town Stadium to deliver the quick, pacy and attacking Dutch football game philosophy.
The former Dutch international's most recent job ended in April 2019. He was the manager of Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen, a club he left after a five-match winless run.
