Fathi urges Napsa Stars players to stay focused

Napsa Stars head coach Mohammed Fathi has urged his players to stay focused despite moving second on the log as the league is far from being over.

The Pensioners beat KYSA 3-0 to leapfrog Red Arrows and move to second on the log with 21 points from 10 games.

"My message to the players is to stay focused. The league is not yet over," he said.

"It was a sweet victory. I think this was the first game we have managed to score three goals this season and the importance of this game was to improve our position on the league from third to second. We now need to focus on our next game."

"We have just played 10 games and we still have 24 games to go. Our target is to play continental football hence we need to keep our selves in the top four brackets," he added.

Fathi was not surprised by the fantastic performance put up by goalkeeper Rabson Mucheleng'anga saying he has always been that good. Fathi also expressed happiness with striker Laudit Mavugo's performance as he came from the bench to score a brace.

"He is an experienced goalkeeper, He was in the national team before and he worked with me at Power Dynamos so I know his quality. There is nothing new about it that's his usual performance," Fathi said.

Mavugo missed part of the pre-season but he is back to his performance and he has managed to score two goals, Am happy for him because he is a key player and it id a plus for us," he added.

A second-half brace from Laudit Mavugo and an early strike from Collins Sikombe was enough for Napsa Stars to clinch an emphatic 3-0 win over KYSA and move to second place on the log.
