Lampard picks Tottenham star as 'perfect idol' for Tammy Abraham

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has advised Tammy Abraham to emulate Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane if he wants to be a top striker.

The youngster netted his 11th goal of the season on Saturday at home to Crystal Palace, continuing with his impressive form both at home and in Europe.

Kane has been one of the star performers in the Premier League in recent seasons and has his eyes set on Wayne Rooney's international goal-record.

"Harry Kane's an incredible player," Lampard told BBC Sport. "What he's done in recent years and his career is amazing, so Tammy needs to look up to that and if he can keep reproducing and scoring goals at that kind of level, that's the next stage for Tammy,"

"What he's shown in these first few months is that there are so many parts to his game. [There was] not much space today because of how Palace play but I told him at half-time just to stick with it, it's one of those games that forwards will have where they work a lot for not much, but maybe a goal and he did that,"

The 22-year-old is at the summit of the goalscoring charts in the Premier League, only a goal shy of leading scorer Jamie Vardy.

"The No.9’s who have been at Chelsea have been world-class strikers and it was a big task for me to take on but I was ready, I felt ready in myself and I’m wearing it and I’m proud to be the No.9," said Vardt after the game.

Chelsea will visit Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City after the international break in a tricky fixture.
