Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has defended Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling, following a confrontation with international teammate Joe Gomez on Tuesday morning.
The pair clashed as the players joined camp ready for the Euro 2020 qualifiers, leading to the former Liverpool star's expulsion from camp
The incident was as a result of a clash during the Manchester City vs Liverpool match at Anfield on Sunday, when emotions ran high in the match that Liverpool won 3-1.
Hudson-Odoi, who was recalled to the team after being out due to an injury, praised the winger, going further to say he was his idol.
"Someone like Raheem is like an idol to me," Hudson-Odoi told Sky Sports.
"The position he plays, and what he's doing for club and country, is an amazing thing, which I will try to replicate myself,"
"It's an amazing feeling to have someone like him doing what he's doing and being around you every time. I want to keep learning off what he does,"
"Raheem's a very nice guy, very encouraging, very positive about everything he does. When I first came in, I didn't expect him to be so nice,"
"Of course, he's a nice person but when you see somebody always welcoming you, just talking to you, giving you advice on how he plays and just being around you a lot, it makes you feel so welcome in the team."
Sterling will miss the match against Montenegro but might be back for the Kosovo match.
His absence might open the door for Hudson-Odoi to get a starting role since his last appearance against Thursday opponents in March.
