Paris Saint Germain attacker Neymar Junior is still being wanted by Laliga giants Barcelona according to their Director of Football Éric Abidal.
Neymar almost re-joined Barcelona over the summer after he had expressed his desire to leave PSG and while speaking to Mundo Deportivo Abidal claimed that signing the Brazilian was still an option for the club.
“Neymar wanted to come. We tried. We have not given up on this. We will have to make decisions from a football perspective but also from a financial perspective, there will be things that we could do and others we can’t do.
“The future will tell us what it is that we can do. If remains at a certain level, because the season is still long. I am not going to say that he is our number one option but he is clearly an option,” Abidal said.
Abidal further heaped praise on Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez who is being seen as a long term successor of Luis Suarez.
"He is a complete player,” Abidal said of Martinez. “I think he is performing at a great level. He is a player we know. There are other players who also have a lot of quality but I don't pay much attention to the player who plays every weekend, I look at others."
