Chelsea surrendered an early lead to trail Manchester City 2-1 after 45 minutes.

Kante had put the Blues ahead, but goals by De Bruyne and Mahrez gave Man City the lead at the Etihad.

Frank Lampard men took off well, Chelsea attack but Man City counter with their usual intensity, getting to the edge of the Chelsea box before a stray pass lets them off the hook.

Chelsea's start silenced the home crowd again after 15 minutes. Willian has Kante on the outside, finds him and his low ball into the middle is turned behind by Stones for the first corner of the night.

Chelsea's pressure paid off in the 21st minute when Kovacic lifts the ball forward into the path of Kante, who shows great strength to hold off Mendy and bundles the ball under Ederson's body for the opener.

Eight minutes later, City drew level. Chelsea lose the ball upfield and David Silva sets off with it, getting into the Chelsea half before squaring for De Bruyne.

He leaves Jorginho on his backside when turning inside before his low effort deflects off Zouma and wrongfoots Kepa.

Man City took the lead in the 37th minute as Mahrez picks up the ball wide right, turns inside of Emerson who gets beaten far too easily but then slots the ball just inside the far post, nutmegging Tomori in the process.

City would have extended the lead but Aguero's 42nd-minute shot hit the crossbar as the first half ended 2-1 in their favour.
