History was made in the North East of Belgium last night. Patson Daka became the first Zambian footballer to score in the UEFA Champions League.
Daka, only 20 years of age, created the would be eternal moment on 44 minutes. The Chingola-born forward was quick to react to a Dominik Szoboszlai’s spilled free-kick and knocked the rebound into the net before launching into his signature back-flip celebration.

While Kalusha ‘King Kalu’ Bwalya did score in the tournament for Dutch side PSV in 1991, the event was yet to be re-formed to the UCL we all love and adore today.
Daka’s RedBull Salzburg now need to win their final group game against Liverpool on 10 December at home in Austria. They will thereafter learn of their last 16 opponents in the16 December’s draw. Some of the potential opponents could be the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester City.
