The Moroccon fullback will return to parent club Real Madrid next summer following a two-season long loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, according to Spanish news outlet Marca.
The 21-year-old signed a two-year loan contract with Dortmund in the summer of 2018 but broke his metatarsal at the start of April this year.
Hakimi made 28 appearances in 2018/2019 and largely impressed. He's back fit again, making 21 appearances in 2019/2020 across all competitions, and starred in Dortmund's dramatic 3-2 win over Inter in the Champions League, scoring a brace.
“Return to Madrid? Why not? Madrid is my home and I grew up there. I am in Borussia until the end of the season and then we'll see,” Achraf told Cadena Ser last month, as cited by Diario AS.
Hakimi's versatility has been a massive bonus to Dortmund with the fullback equally adept on either flank and also comfortable in a wide midfield role or in the centre of defence in an emergency.
Hakimi has played 22 times for Morocco and was an ever-present for the North Africans in the Group stages of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
