Mamelodi Sundowns utility left-footer Lyle Lakay has an easy way of working with Pitso Mosimane thanks to his history with similar coaches.
Lakay has worked under three of the Absa Premiership's maverick coaches: Gavin Hunt at SuperSport United, Benni McCarthy at Cape Town and currently Mosimane at Chloorkop.
Revealing how he copes with the hugely demanding “Jingles,” Lakay said passionate leaders are what he has experienced before.
“He’s passionate. I can make an example... I played under Benni (McCarthy) and they are the same. They are passionate about football. Gavin (Hunt) too. They are kind of like perfectionists,” Lakay told Soccer Laduma.
“They want everything to be good and they are never happy, which is good because it will help you improve. And you have to buy into what they are doing, because if you don’t, then you won’t succeed. For now, it was a bit shaky in the beginning, but I got used to it and that’s how you learn also. They just want the best for you, which is good because you will eventually achieve what you want to achieve,” added the 28-year-old.
Sundowns are now in Morocco for a CAF Champions League clash. Kabo Yellow face Wydad Casablanca on Saturday night at 21:00.
