Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping Antony Martial will shake off an injury that kept him out of the Tottenham match as they prepare for the Manchester Derby on Saturday.
The Frenchman, who just turned 24, was not part of the squad that beat Jose Mourinho's Tottenham on Wednesday night due to a muscle injury he sustained against Aston Villa last week.
Mason Greenwood was deployed upfront alongside Marcus Rashford and Daniel James to a great effect, but Solskjaer hopes to have the former Monaco man back.
“A little while - how long is a piece of rope?” the manager told reporters ahead of the derby. “The City game? I don't know. I am not sure,"
“Of course you want to have your first XI, your biggest and best players all of the time, and I've done that once against Chelsea, and maybe Wolves. But it’s a squad game and the subs are so vital.”
Manchester United received a boost in midweek with Scott McTominay returning to the starting lineup, and he might partner Fred once again at the Etihad.
Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic are also on the road to full recovery, even though the derby might come too soon for the duo.
Others who have stepped up their recovery include longterm absentees Eric Bailly, Diogo Dalot and Tim Fosu-Mensah.
