Incase you missed it: Tuesday night's memorable Champions League moments

The Champions League group stage concludes on Wednesday night with two teams expected to fill the slots left for the knockout stages.

Tuesday night served tense moments as more teams booked their slots in the next round, with one or two surprises as the big boys made it through.

Perhaps the biggest upset was Ajax losing at home to Valencia and consequently crashing out, with Inter Milan too dropping out after a 2-1 loss to Barcelona.

What are some of the key moments you missed?

1. Frank De jong heartbroken

Barcelona had qualified for the next round prior to their tie against Inter Milan, but they nonetheless put in a stellar performance to outclass Antonio Conte's men.

At the end of the match, former Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong could not believe that his former side did not score the elusive goal to send them through, crushing out after losing 1-0 to Valencia.

He later revealed that he was keeping an eye on the scores at half-time, and when the scores were beamed onto the screens at full-time, his heart sunk.

2. Ansu Fati's new record

The Barcelona prodigy continues to grab headlines and break records in what is turning out to be a breakout season for him.

He already has the record of being Barcelona's youngest goalscorer in La Liga, and he added another feather to his cap; becoming the youngest Champions League scorer.

The youngster came off the bench to score the winner with seven minutes to go, sending Inter Milan crashing out.

3. Adel Taarabt nutmeg

Adel Taarabt loves the flashy game and grabbing headlines with his play. It wasn't any different on Tuesday night as the Moroccan mercilessly destroyed Aleksandr Yerokhin, nutmegging him as Benfica beat Zenit St. Petersburg 3-0.

The Russian closed him down on the touchline before the 30-year-old skilly rolled the ball through his legs before taking off on the flank.

Despite all that, the two sides crashed out as Lyon qualified behind group winners RB Leipzig.

4. Lukaku's ball control

Inter Milan crashed out of the competition following another loss in the hands of Barcelona and will have to do with Europa League now.

Romelu Lukaku has been phenomenal for the club but has also had missed moments. The scores could have been different and maybe they could have had a chance of getting out of the group had Lukaku not missed two chances despite having leveled earlier on in the first half.

One particular moment saw the Belgian's heavy touch on a sweet through ball painfully roll out having rounded the keeper.

5. Intrigue-plagued Zenit match

Zenit St. Petersburg crashed out of the Champions League despite coming so close to qualifying. The Russians suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Benfica but still seemed to be qualifying as Lyon were losing at home to an already qualified RB Leipzig.

The French side, however, battled to an impressive 2-2 draw, with Memphis Depay scoring the 82nd-minute goal to see them move to second with eight points, one above Benfica and St. Petersburg who tied on seven points in one of the most intriguing group.
