Kenya's Harambee Stars have finished third in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup tournament held in Uganda, following a 2-1 win over neighbors Tanzania.
Stars, who are the tournament's defending champions, took a 2-0 first-half lead, following goals from Kenneth Muguna in the 15th minute and Abdalla Hassan in the 36th minute.
Gadiel Michael Kamagi gave the Tanzanians their lone goal in the 82nd minute, but could not find the equalizer as they finished fourth.
Francis Kimanzi's men were pre-tournament favorites but crashed out in the semifinals after a shock 4-1 loss at the hands of surprises package Eritrea.
Tanzania, on the other hand, were bundled out by Uganda, who are now favorites.
Goalkeeper Samuel 'Abawa' Odhiambo was castigated for his role in the loss, but Kimanzi chose to stick with him on Thursday against Tanzania.
He redeemed himself to help the Stars finish with a medal, even though it won't be enough as fans voiced their frustrations following the Eritrea loss.
Hosts Uganda, who are the tournament's most successful team, will battle Eritrea in the finals, hoping to add one more title.
