Harambee Stars forward Oscar Wamalwa bagged the Golden Boot at the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup after scoring three goals in the tournament.
The Ulinzi Stars talisman carried his form from club level where he plundered three goals in the month of November.
Wamalwa started his CECAFA tournament with an assist after setting up Abdalla Hassan to score the lone goal in the 1-0 win over Tanzania.
The burly forward then got his name on the scoresheet in the 2-1 comeback win over Sudan and notched his second in the 1-0 win over Zanzibar.
Wamalwa also scored the lone goal in the 1-4 loss to Eritrea but was unfortunate in the match after scoring a fortuitous own goal.
Wamalwa provided another assist in the third-place playoffs against Tanzania, cutting back the ball for Kenneth Muguna for the opener.
Though short of the nation’s expectations, we congratulate The Harambee Stars for winning bronze at the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup. Congratulations too to Oscar Musa Wamalwa for finishing as the tournament’s top scorer.— Ulinzi Stars FC (@UlinziStarsFC) December 19, 2019
