Liverpool star man Mohammed Salah has congratulated his club-mate Sadio Mane after he scooped the CAF Player of the year on Tuesday.
Mane attended a ceremony in Cairo on Tuesday to collect the award, beating Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez as well as Salah who had been nominated for the award.
After Mane had collected his prize, Salah took to Instagram to congratulate the Senegalese on the win, posting an image of the Reds' number 10 on his story alongside the words 'Congrats bro' and an emoji of raised arms.
Mane and Salah had a brilliant 2019 year for Liverpool with the duo helping the club to the UEFA Champions League trophy; Mane going a notch higher for his national team, Senega by helping them reach the final of the African Cup of Nations that was won by Algeria who was captained by Mahrez.
While accepting the award, Mane said: "It is a big day for me. I don't really know how to say it but I would love to thank all the Senegalese people."
"They have been with me all the time and they push me to do better. I am really happy and very proud to win this."
Mane who has already netted elven games this season will return to Liverpool in time to face Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham next weekend.
